Dyslexia and Reading Intervention

What Happens During Our One-on-One Sessions

During our one-hour, individualized sessions, we focus on building and strengthening the core skills that support confident, successful reading and writing. Each session is hands-on, engaging, and tailored to your child’s needs.

Areas of focus include:

  • Decoding and word attack strategies

  • Handwriting, letter formation, and reversal correction

  • Spelling and written expression

  • Sound-symbol association

  • Phonological awareness and auditory processing

  • Introduction of new sounds with ongoing review of previously taught concepts

  • Multi-syllable reading strategies

  • Reading fluency and rate

  • Comprehension development

  • Processing and working memory

  • Test-taking and note-taking strategies

We believe in going back to the basics—finding and strengthening any cracks in your child’s phonics foundation. Our multisensory approach helps students make lasting connections between the sounds and symbols of our language, leading to genuine reading progress.

Parents play a key role, too. We train parents alongside their child so you have the knowledge, tools, and confidence to support reading practice at home between sessions.

The Phono-Graphix Method—and Beyond

We have been certified in the Phono-Graphix Reading Method for over 20 years and continue to use it because of the remarkable success we’ve seen in our students’ reading and spelling growth. This approach “clicks” with many learners, especially those with dyslexia, because it is clear, logical, and individualized. It helps students truly understand how written English works—without memorization or guesswork.

At the same time, our team of highly trained reading specialists holds multiple certifications across a variety of evidence-based reading programs. While Phono-Graphix is at the heart of how we teach reading, we don’t limit ourselves to a single program. Instead, we pull from a range of proven methods to create instruction that meets each child’s unique learning needs.

This flexibility is a big part of why we see such strong reading improvement in our students. Because we meet with students one-on-one and are not bound by one curriculum, we can offer the kind of truly individualized instruction that school districts simply can’t provide—instruction that adapts to your child, not the other way around.

We often hear parents say, “I wish I was taught to read this way!”—and we couldn’t agree more!

What Makes Phono-Graphix So Effective

Phono-Graphix is a research-based, linguistically sound approach to teaching reading and spelling. It teaches students how the English code works by:

  • Training the brain to listen carefully to the sounds in words

  • Reading all the way through a word from left to right (rather than guessing based on the first or last letters)

  • Mapping words by saying the sounds aloud while writing the corresponding symbols

Lessons target three essential skills: segmenting, blending, and phoneme manipulation. Every response—right or wrong—is viewed as a teachable moment, guiding students toward accuracy and mastery.

Because we primarily work with children, our lessons are interactive, multisensory, and playful, using meaningful hands-on activities that make learning stick.
